Russian Mahjong Federation is proud to announce the start of "Russian Open MCR Marathon 2015" - an extended ten-month online competition which takes place at the game server MahjongTime. Unlike previous years Marathon 2015 will be international. Russian Mahjong Federation invites all players to participate!
Marathon starts on February 1, 2015 and will last until November 30, 2015 by San Diego (California, USA) time.
Winners of the Marathon or its Stages will receive prizes!
Marathon as a competition will consist of 5 bi-monthly periods called "Stages":
- Stage 1 - from February 1 till March 31, 2015,
- Stage 2 - from April 1 till May 31, 2015,
- Stage 3 - from June 1 till July 31, 2015,
- Stage 4 - from August 1 till September 30, 2015,
- Stage 5 - from October 1 till November 30, 2015.
Stage of the Marathon is an analogue of the usual session in mahjong tournament, the only difference is that during each Stage of the participants will be able to play not one, but an unlimited number of games lasting 100 minutes (or 16 deals) each.
For each MCR game played within Marathon's Stage a player will receive GP (Game Points) based on won and lost deals of the game and TP (Table Points) for the place based on Game Points (4 TP for the first place, 2 TP for the second, 1 TP for the third and 0 TP for fourth) according to standard approach under Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR).
The primary criterion by which players are ranked in a Stage is half of the sum of two components: (1) the average TP in the best "10-series" (which is 10 games played in a row), and (2) the average of the TP of all games played in Stage. If player played more than ten (10) games in a Stage then the best 10-series for this player is determined by the maximal sum of Table Points in the 10-series and the maximum amount of Game Points obtained in the 10-series with the maximum amount of Table Points. Please, refer the Regulations to learn more about ranking of Marathon.
The prize for the winner of the Marathon is 1-year VIP-membership subscription for MahjongTime and Cup or mahjong set. The prize for the players in 2nd or 3rd place of Marathon ranking is 1-year Premium-membership subscription for MahjongTime. Winners of each Stage will receive 300 Golden Coins (which is virtual currency of MahjongTime), 2nd-rank winner will receive 200 Golden Coins and 3rd-rank winner will receive 100 Golden Coins. In addition, the winners of each of the five Stages and three winners of Marathon will be awarded medals on avatar in the virtual player profile at MahjongTime.
The best Russian player based on the results of Marathon or each of its Stages is considered to be the winner of the Marathon / Stage and gets the corresponding prizes (in addition to regular winners).
Any player can start participating in Marathon at any time. To do that, one needs to read Regulations, create an account at MahjongTime, and play at least once at a special table named «RU-Marathon-N» (where N - serial number of the gaming table). Please, refer the Guide to learn more about how to get to the tournament table.
The results of all games played at the tournament tables will automatically come to the organizers (so participants will not have to keep records of games played and report these results to organisers), and the current state of the tournament ranking will be updated regularly at website of Russian Mahjong Federation.
Online Marathon is an extended 10-month event, so any unforeseen situations may require an adequate response and patience from both the participants and the organizers. Also, minor changes in Regulations may take place. The organizers ask all participants to follow the MCR rules (to the extent that is possible while playing in the Internet), comply with Regulations and respect their opponents.
