ABOUT CHAMPIONSHIP

For about one year the Federation of Mahjong was gaining the experience in organizing tournaments in our homeland, making contacts with its foreign colleagues, sending its representatives to international tournaments. And now it is time when we feel  ready to arrange the main competition of the year — Open Mahjong Championship of Russia. Our initiative was welcomed by the European Mahjong Association (EMA), which put the championship into its calendar and assigned 2 points of European rating for it (MERS). In the framework of the Russian rating system the championship will have a multiplier 3.

Besides pleasant prices and rating points the Mahjong Champion of Russia will be nominated as a result of the championship. We expect the championship to be attended by the mightiest Russian players, winners of the recent tournaments in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Zhukovsky, as well as by Europeans, many of whom have already expressed their willingness to come to Moscow.

The Federation of Mahjong will do its best to ensure that such an important event goes in a right way and eventually becomes a landmark in history of Russian mahjong development.

REGISTRATION

All players wishing to take part in the championship should fill in the registration form on our website and pay a registration fee of 1000 rubles or 30 EUR before the registration is closed. The ways of payment are the following: credit or debit cards, bank transfer, cash (the payment instructions are sent to registered players via e-mail).

The registration is open July 20 till October 20, 2008. The maximum number of players allowed is 40 persons. Hurry up to register!

PLACE

The competition hall is in the comfortable conference center Extropolis, situated in the center of the city at the address Trekhprudny pereulok, house 9, which is 10 minutes walk from the metro stations "Pushkinskaya" and "Tverskaya" (map).

REGULATION

The championship will be held in accordance with the Mahjong Competition Rules adopted by the World Mahjong Organization in edition of the year 2006 ("The Green Book"). In addition to these rules the Federation of Mahjong will elaborate and publish the Regulation of the Mahjong Championship of Russia 2008.

In view of international character of the competition we ask its participants to carefully read the rules and regulations of the tournament in the Green Book in order to avoid misunderstandings between players from different countries.
